- Reusable Water Bottle: Most vacations keep you busy, you are either hurrying to the airport, or lugging around bags, or standing in long entrance lines. If you have a bottle, you control your water supply, which is very important because it’s really easy to get dehydrated by the rush and activity on a vacation. Yes, airport security can confiscate your half-filled bottle. But, the trick is to empty it out before security and refill it from a dispenser/fountain once you are through.
- Walking/Running Shoes: Many people travelling for business try to keep their packing to a minimal and only carry their dress shoes. Not having the right shoes is the biggest hurdle stopping you from taking the morning run in the local surrounding of your hotel before that meeting. It’s achievable! Besides you can also opt to see the city on foot on a spare evening.
- Get a Skipping Rope: You don’t have to carry the gym with you, a skipping rope and resistance bands suffice just fine. Not only are they portable workout equipment but super cardio and bodyweight exercises. Save some exercise and routines on your smartphone, and you are ready to burn the waffles right in your hotel room.

Vacations are all about lazy times at the beach and fancy spa days, there is an early morning cruise or a late night party, and it’s really difficult to stay healthy. I know it’s definitely easier said than done, but here are a few tips that will help you while you are still trying.
- Do little but do the best you can. If you indulge in that burger after the party, make up for it by a salad and lots of fruits the next day. If you can only manage to squeeze a 15-minute workout, make sure you don’t skip it. 15 minutes is a lot better than nothing.
- Use the parks and playgrounds. Most cities all over the world have a local park or a playground. Use your phone’s maps to find the nearest green patch and head there for your workout. Take a stroll or other bodyweight exercises out in the open and feel refreshed.
- Choose your meals wisely. Try and up your food budget to incorporate more protein and greens instead of the fries and other takeouts during your vacation. Other than that learn to balance your diet. Plan your meals; if you have to indulge in a big dinner at that fancy restaurant, try and eat lighter during the day and the next day and if you can’t skip those fruity cocktails at the beach, sip water between each drink and have a salad for lunch.
- Explore on foot. They say the best way to feel in touch with a place is to explore it on foot. Meet the local people, try the local food, and admire the local style – there is no better way to do it other than on foot. And what’s better, you’ll be burning some calories too.
